Since 1869 Gerstner has been, without interruption, a loyal partner of the Vienna State Opera. Up to this day the two traditional houses complete each other in an ideal manner: cultural and culinary delight.

The Vienna State Opera is one of the major opera houses in the world. There is hardly an opera or ballet star who has not been affiliated with the Vienna State Opera.  Construction of the former Court Opera House, by August Sicard von Sicardsburg and Eduard van der Nüllby, ended in 1869. They kept the architecture in the Renaissance style with arch-romantic-historical forms.
