The Vienna Musikverein - Enchanting classical music combined with culinary traditions
Traditions live on when they are renewed. New ideas in the musical program keep the great heritage of the Musikverein alive.
There are many music venues, but there is only one Vienna Musikverein. Music fans around the world know it as the foundation of Vienna's musical culture, as a center of international concert life, and as an institution of classical music. The magnificent building was designed by Theophil Hansen, following the example of the "Greek renaissance". The caryatids in the Great Hall, Apollo and the Muses on the ceiling, the Ionic columns and temple roof in the Brahms room, and Orpheus on the pediment of the front facade, are all Greek reminiscences that accentuate this style.
The New Year's Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic is the most well-known performance in the Vienna Musikverein. It is an annual event catered by Gerstner, as are the Philharmonic Ball and the Ball of Industry and Technology, all of which are held in the Musikverein.
Ball of the Viennese Philharmonic Orchestra: This is considered the most elegant and noble ball in Vienna. It will be held on 21 January 2010 in the Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein. The tradition and the intimate setting account for the charm of this event. The Philharmonic Ball is a ball by artists, for artists - and for art lovers.
Technicians Circle: This ball is one of the social highlights of the Viennese ball season. It is characterized by true elegance and a festive ambiance. It will be held on 23 January 2010.
Gerstner has organized and catered these two exclusive balls since 2004.
